Description: Whether used with the RDS-32™ meter, the ADM300A(V1B)™ meter, or the RDS-100/110 (legacy VDR-2 and PDR-77) meters, X-ray/FIDLER probes are often misunderstood. These probes provide information for contamination and directionality whether for searching, reconnaissance or interdiction; particularly for low energy isotopes and transuranic contamination (i.e., Uranium-235 or Plutonium-239). This session will focus on the benefits and real-world challenges of utilizing these probes including the value of using the discriminator and energy selector functionality included with these probes.

Description: This session will focus on Mirion's technical innovations that are aimed to bring advanced measurement performance capability to enable customers to measure wastes more accurately thereby adding confidence to decision-making for waste routing and disposition. We discuss the added value that our advanced ISOCS™ tools offer, together with combining complementary technologies such as X-Radiography, 3D laser mapping, and gamma spectrometry. We discuss our advanced "ISOCS-like" neutron modeling tools that allow source-less calibrations for complex geometries. We present our technology pipeline and developments focused on emerging applications such as "sort and segregate" that can benefit from such technology combinations. Lastly, we comment on how image recognition techniques can further support typical waste management and D&D challenges, as the nuclear industry adapts to the digital world.

Description: In this session, we will introduce for the first time the successor of the Intelligent Preamplifier, the iPA II preamplifier. With the introduction of the iPA digital preamplifier in 2017, Mirion took a critical step in providing a solution to easily display and monitor the State of Health of the detector and cryostat. Combined with Mirion Lab-Pulse™ Services, the iPA preamplifier also enabled remote monitoring and predictive maintenance. The iPA II preamplifier will not only bring increased robustness and enhanced user experience, but more importantly it will be Mirion's future-proof preamplifier, especially when used in combination with the Lynx® II MCA.

CBRN Hot Zone: Breaking Rad
Session DetailsCBRN Hot Zone
Description: The setup involves creating a simulation of a hazardous environment (a "hot zone") using small live sources of radioactive materials (DMC, RDS SIM-Teq™ devices, AccuRad™ PRD-SIM) and a system for simulating gas or vapor hazards. Teams of responders, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), will enter the area to survey and assess the situation, identifying any hazards. The SIM-Teq system is used to provide a realistic response from dosimeters and instruments, offering a safe yet challenging experience for the responders. Radioisotope Identification Devices (RIIDs) are used to identify the sources of radiation. The hot zone is equipped with Step-off Pads to control contamination and devices such as the MiniSentry™ 2 monitor or SPIR-Ident™ Pedestrian portal for screening purposes.

Description: Mirion's Orion Real-Time Location System brings location and radiation measurement data together in a seamless experience for nuclear power, industrial and research facilities. Orion RTLS is more than next-generation telemetry; it presents vast opportunities for improvements in safety, efficiency, and situational awareness. We will discuss the unique Orion ecosystem (hardware and software technology), and demonstrate its use for ALARA, Radiation Protection management, and asset tracking. In addition, we will discuss how Orion RTLS is used in critical path time reduction, HP/RP monitoring, as well as post-incident investigations. The session will include a series of hands-on, scenario-based demonstrations which will present the features of the Orion system in practical context.
