Description: In this session, we will discuss the latest automation technologies for field deployment for D&D needs, including robotics (Spot® agile robot) and drones (Flyability); Sort & Segregate technology; and RoboCount™ system. We will present possibilities to integrate our advanced radiometric tools (such as SUPERISOCS modeling of complex scenarios) with the 3D mapping tools widely available (LIDAR, 3D cameras).

Instrumentation for Source Safari - Part 1

Description: Participants will learn about the SPIR Ecosystem of products used for search and adjudication of radioactive and nuclear materials. Products include the AccuRad™ PRD, AccuRad SIM, SPIR-Ace™ RIID, SPIR-Pack™ backpack and others. Participants will learn instrument operation, search and localization techniques, collecting and recording data. This session will be helpful for participation in the Source Safari sessions offered on Thursday.

Contamination Monitors: Innovations & Applications

Description: Contamination monitoring of persons, objects and waste is of critical importance in health physics considerations. In this session, we will demonstrate our recent innovations and exchange on best-practices for certain applications. The Role of Mirion Specialty Detectors in Advancing Fundamental Research in Nuclear Physics

Description: Come learn how Mirion Specialty Detectors are at the forefront of enabling fundamental nuclear physics research. High-purity germanium (HPGe) instruments such as GRETA (Gamma-Ray Energy Tracking Array), AGATA (Advanced GAmma Tracking Array) and Clover detectors provide unprecedented performance and precision in complex settings by leverage detector segmentation for 3D position sensitivity and high efficiency, thus enabling complex studies of atomic nuclei and their reactions.

Custom-designed detectors further push boundaries in niche applications, addressing unique challenges such as compact form factors for portable systems, ultra-low background detection for rare-event searches, and adaptive designs for integration into existing experimental setups. In addition, an overview highlighting Mirion contributions to nuclear physics and the role of our products enabling groundbreaking discoveries in the field will be discussed.

Shaping the Future: Innovations in Non-Destructive Assay Techniques

Description: In this session we will discuss technical advancements, tools, and real-life applications of technology including AI, to improve non-destructive analysis. We will cover NeRF methodology (Neural Radiance Field), a deep-learning method of reconstructing three-dimensional representations from two-dimensional images, and the advantages it can provide; coupling X-ray Tomography with NDA data; the first-of-a-kind LINAS (Large Item Neutron Assay System) technology; SUPERISOCS modeling of complex scenarios; and other advancements. We will also discuss Figure of Merit (FOM) applications, approved by the U.S. DOE and EPA, that can be used to verify the data from these technologies. We will introduce various technology innovations developed as a result of collaborations and partnerships we have been engaged in with industry and academia.

CSPevo™ Probe Calibration

Description: We will demonstrate how to efficiently replace a Mylar window with CSPevo products and resume operations without waiting time. Each attendee will use CSPevo family with different handles and observe specific displays on the RDS-32™ version, such as the trending mode. Additionally, we will explain how CSPevo family integration is facilitated by the CSP-PL™ library on a computer. Finally, we will use CSPS™ software to set up and calibrate CSPevo products.

Description: The Source Safari is a fun and challenging activity where teams of participants search for hidden radioactive sources. Teams are formed and assigned Mission Intelligence Briefs and Instrumentation. The Mission Briefs hold clues for the teams to search the facility and localize radioactive material using techniques learned from the previous breakout session. There will be multiple missions. Each team will be required to complete a data form and report their findings at the conclusion of the session. This is Part 1 of two sessions.
